Strawbridge Animal Care offers a fear-free experience for your pet. Fear Free veterinary visits seek to eliminate fear, anxiety, and stress, and create an experience that’s better and safer for all involved, including pets, owners, and veterinary healthcare teams. In addition to providing general care and surgery, we also provide specialized care through the use of acupuncture and Class IV Laser Therapy.
We’re open Monday - Thursday from 8am to 8pm, Friday 8am to 6pm, and Saturday 8am to 2pm. Appointments are always recommended, but are not necessary for emergencies, nail trimming, blood draws, and expressing anal glands. It is easier than ever to connect with us by using our new app, PetDesk. You can request appointments, send us messages, get reminders, and more on any mobile device. Dr. Blair Hollowell
Veterinarian
Dr. Blair Hollowell has been practicing small animal veterinary medicine since 1998. In 2005 she moved to Virginia Beach to be near family and met her husband Todd. They have 3 year old twins Carli and Mason. Dr. Hollowell enjoys spending as much time as possible with them. After founding Strawbridge Animal Care, Dr. Hollowell became interested in rehabilitation medicine. She is certified in Canine Rehabilitation Therapy and works with PAWS for Rehabilitation to assist patients in recovering from injuries or improving the quality of life for many of our area’s four legged friends suffering with osteoarthritis. Her special practice interests include surgery and dentistry. Dr. Hollowell has been a member of the National Veterinary Response Team since 2002 and she was deployed to assist victims of Hurricanes Charlie, Dennis, Wilma and Katrina to name a few. Dr. Hollowell has served on the Board of Trustees for the American Veterinary Medical Association Group Health and Life Insurance Trust for the past 6 years and has previously served as a member of the Virginia Beach SPCA Board. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, American Feline Practitioners Association, and the International Association of Veterinary Pain Management. In her free time Dr. Hollowell can be found chasing her “fraidy” cat Stash or her two dogs, Frankie and Freddie. She enjoys sewing, reading and boating with her family.
Dr. Natalie Griffin
Veterinarian
Dr. Natalie Griffin is a graduate of Auburn University and Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine and practiced veterinary medicine for 14 years before coming to Strawbridge Animal Care. Dr. Griffin is experienced in both large and small animal health care as well as emergency and shelter medicine. Dr. Griffin is active in local community animal services and serves on the board of directors for both the Virginia Beach SPCA and Animal Welfare for the City of Virginia Beach, as well as being a member of the South Hampton Roads Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Griffin credits her love of animals to her early pony club years when she rode horses competitively in shows and events. Those experiences set her vision and vocational dream in place as she moved on to college and career preparation.
Dr. Griffin is a mother of three boys and the wife off a 13-year career United States Coast Guard officer. In addition her busy professional life, Dr. Griffin enjoys supporting her sons in sports and Boy Scout activities. Her family shares their home with an 11-year-old Basset Hound, their 7-year-old French Bulldog, June Bug and Buzz, the Guinea Pig.
Dr. Robert Walker
Veterinarian
Dr. Robert Walker graduated from North Carolina State with two bachelor’s degrees, one in zoology and the other in animal science. He then went on to the University of Illinois, where he earned his DVM in 2001 and has since developed a special interest in emergency medicine. He has worked with Strawbridge Animal Care in his off time from our local emergency hospital since 2002. Dr. Walker is the proud owner of five adorable pooches and one special kitty. When not working, you can find Dr. Walker spending time with his wife and daughter and playing flyball.
Dr. Amanda German
Veterinarian
Dr. Amanda German has been practicing veterinary medicine since 2010 when she graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, the University of London for veterinary school. She attended Virginia Tech for her undergraduate degree in biology and minor in psychology and chemistry. Dr. German completed an internship furthering her education 2010-2011. She has practiced as a small animal emergency veterinarian locally before joining our family in 2016. Her special interests include emergency medicine and endocrinology.
Dr. German grew up in the Virginia Beach area and when not working she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, running, going to the beach, seeing live music, and traveling. She has a long-haired Dachshund named Bailey and a cat named Coby.
Dr. Cristian Nunez
Veterinarian
Dr. Nunez is originally from New York. He received his Associates in Veterinary Technology from SUNY Delhi and his Bachelors degree in Veterinary Technology from Mercy College. He was a licensed veterinary technician for three years before deciding to pursue his DVM. He obtained his DVM from Ross University and completed his clinical year at the University of Florida. After graduation Dr. Nunez completed a one year small animal rotating internship in Jacksonville, Florida. His main areas of interest are anesthesia, pain management and ultrasound.
Dr. Nunez and his wife have their rescued dogs Jax, Brandy and Sasha, along with their rescue cat Donatello. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, beach days, and cooking with his family.
Dr. Christa Gilfeather
Veterinarian
Dr. Christa Gilfeather attended Mississippi State University, during which time she worked as research assistant within the department of animal and dairy sciences, with a concentration in reproductive physiology.
Dr. Gilfeather graduated from MSU with two bachelor’s degrees, one in microbiology and the other in animal and dairy science. She continued her journey as a Bulldog at Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she earned her DVM. Hail State!!
Her special interests include ultrasonography, dermatology, and endocrinology. When Dr. Gilfeather is not working she enjoys playing with her dogs --Gogh and Winnie, going to the beach, trying new foods, and spending time with her family.
